As the headwaters of the Ottawa River System, Lake Temiskaming is over 100 kilometres long and reaches over 200 meters deep in places. The lake also has several tributaries such as the Montreal, Kipawa, Matabitchewan, Blanche and Quinze Rivers. Walleye, Northern Pike, Whitefish and Smallmouth Bass are plentiful in Lake Temiskaming.

One of the best kept secrets of Lake Temiskaming is the excellent opportunity for fishing trophy walleye late into the fall. While many smaller lakes are frozen over for the winter, the cooler water temperature triggers the movement of herring bait fish congregating at the Old Mission Narrows of Lake Temiskaming. Local fisherman take advantage of the excitement for as long as the boat launch remains accessible!
